This venture started as a hobby in 2017, but quickly turned into a side hustle in early 2018. In 2021, Joe left his full time job as a police officer to pursue Lazy Lab Acres full-time.
The foundation of Lazy Lab Acres rests on custom orders. You can see recent custom orders under the “HOME” menu which will provide more information about specific projects.
Some products that are listed on the website are pre-made and will ship within 1-2 business days of the order being placed. If expedited shipping or any special circumstances exist, please email us or contact us on Instagram before placing an order. Many pieces are listed “in stock” on the website and are made to order, so please allow a few business days for your item to be completed before shipping out. Space is limited with the current shop set up so we cannot have a large amount of “inventory”.
Generally, we do not accept returns. If an item is damaged during the shipping process, please reach out to us and we can take the appropriate course of action.
We offer laser engraving for many different types of material to include wood, leather, polymer (PMAGs), metal, glass, drinkware (tumblers, decanters, flasks, etc.).
We also offer CNC engraving services as well. We have a 4×8 CNC in the shop which can accommodate a large variety of projects to include furniture, signs, slab flattening, custom cabinetry along with many other applications.

We are very active on social media! Our Instagram feed shows our current projects and life around our new homestead. YouTube is our other primary focus when it comes to social media and our growing channel is almost at 50k subscribers and features full videos on commissioned projects, DIY tutorials, and homesteading topics.
We can never have too much information. Please include as many dimensions, styles, inspiration pictures, sketches, etc. in your request so that we can make exactly what you are looking for. We understand all of that information can not necessarily be included in the initial request via our website, but have that information handy for follow on communication.
For any custom requests that involve a logo, image, etc., please provide a .svg or .ai file if you have it. Otherwise a high quality image or PDF will be helpful.
We have a wide spectrum of abilities so please ask if we can do it before assuming that we don’t offer a particular product or service.
We do not offer any permanent discounts, but we will run sales and specials throughout the year. If you plan on making a large order of a specific product, we are open to discussing possible price breaks based on quantity.

We love our local customers and pick up is always an option. We are located in Rougemont, NC just north of Durham, NC. If you see an item on the website that you would like to purchase and pick up, please contact us before placing an order.

For over a year, we were making custom leather patches for a hat company. They decided to go in a different direction so we just recently added custom leather patch hats to our product line. If you would like to place a custom hat order, please contact us and we’ll get you squared away.
You may have seen an increase in homesteading related posts/videos on our social media. We consider our homesteading venture as our current “side hustle”, which is in its infancy. One of our long term goals is to successful combine our “making” business with or “growing” side hustle. Primarily, we are a product based business and do not plan on deviating from that anytime soon.
